VX CAD/CAM (referred to as VX) is a mechanical engineering CAD/CAM
package offering comprehensive 3D solid/surface hybrid modeling,
assembly-centric parametric design and drafting along with optional
mold design and an integrated CAM package that includes 2 through
5-axis milling

Dynamic texture mapping
New "Texture Mapping" added via a new "Visualize" tool bar. Graphical images (all popular formats supported) can be applied to model faces as textures, in the shaded model environment, in real time.

Assembly Component Light Sources. This novel idea allows the User to create 3D Model components that represent lights (e.g. a spotlight). The lighting components can be dynamically positioned in model space using any of the standard VX component alignment commands as well as commands for dynamically moving and patterning components, taking away the "mystery" of lighting for photo-realistic images

2D & 3D Import
New image-to-geometry (raster to vector) translator allows import pictures and convert them to sketch geometry

Gap/tangency detection N-sided patches

New on-the-fly gap detection/reporting for n-blend curve/edge loop during surface patch creation (Perfect for toolmakers that have to clean-up model data received from their customers).

3D engraving on solids and surfaces
Inlay Command. A new command that quickly applies a face inlay based on any wire frame geometry and input of angle/tip radius required.

Point Cloud Improvements
360 degree surfaces on a point cloud now supported.
A fantastic command to Trim/divide point clouds to planes or surfaces is added. Even multiple slicing/trimming of multiple point cloud sets is supported.
In order to easily handle extremely large STL files, VX has a utility function that can split an STL file into several smaller "slices"
Improved boundary edge tracing

Beta Lib3D for mold design
A new design-centric, intelligent, parametric mold library is introduced. All common mold tool component types and cooling channels are supported. A very intuitive interface, designed by mold designers for mold designers

In-place assembly modeling
A new hybrid-based, intelligent method of creating assemblies using in-place modeling. Simply create multiple objects and VX will automatically export each object into separate components thus turning the original object into an assembly.
